Movie Review: Enchanted (2007)

Hello, people!

How are you all doing today? For today's movie review, I am reviewing a movie that I have seen a lot. Every once in a while my grandma will take me or one of my sisters just to stay a few days with her. We go shopping, watch movies, and just hang out. The very first time I ever went with her we rented this movie!

"You have got to be kidding me."

My guarantee: On ALL of my reviews there are NO spoilers unless I give you warning.

Enchanted (2007):
'"Where did you send her?"
"To a place where there are no happily ever afters."'
Giselle has always dreamed of finding her true love. When she meets Prince Edward, they know that they have both found it. But, Edward's stepmother, Narissa is not so happy about it. To prevent them getting married, she pushes Giselle down a well that brings her to a strange place: New York City. Lost, sad and alone, she meets Robert and his daughter Morgan and they decide to help her... for the night. Meanwhile, Giselle's chipmunk friend Pip and Prince Edward are looking for her, with the "help" of Nathaniel who pledges loyalty to Narissa. Will they find each other and make it home or will Narissa find another way to get rid of Giselle?
'"I hope you had nice dreams."
"I think I'm still in one."'
Genre(s): Fantasy, Comedy, Romance, Family.
Length: approx. 105 minutes.
Costumes: 7, some of them are a little low, and there is a scene where someone isn't really wearing anything, but I love how Giselle "makes" her own clothes!
"Just because she has a funny dress on doesn't mean that she is a princess."
Costumes by: Mona May.
Script: 10, no bad words!
"You are not a very nice old man!"
Crew:
Directed by: Kevin Lima.
Written by: Bill Kelly.
Starring:
Amy Adams as Giselle.
Patrick Dempsy as Robert Philip.
James Marsden as Prince Edward.
Timothy Spall as Nathaniel.
Idina Menzel as Nancy Tremaine.
Rachel Covey as Morgan.
'"I'm only six."
"You won't always be."'
Susan Sarandon as Queen Narissa.
Jeff Bennett and Kevin Lima as Pip .
They also had a lot of cameos of people who are in other Disney movies:
Paige O'Hara as Angela .
Jodi Benson as Sam.
Judy Kuhn as Pregnant Woman with Kids (uncredited).
Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Mr. Banks.
Jon McLaughlin as himself.
Julie Andrews as the Narrator.
Cinematography/Animation: 9. The really cool thing about this movie is that any of it Andalasia is animated (classic style!!), and any of it in New York is live action! I love that they did this.
'"What sort of awful place is this?"
"It's reality."'
Cinematography by: Don Burgess.
Music: 9, the song "That's How You Know" is my favorite!
Music by: Alan Meken.
Quotes: 8, "Everybody has bad times, do we sacrifice our good times for them?"
Storyline: 8, there are some suggestive things, kissing (it is a romance), and it deals partly with divorce, but that's it!
Good For: Disney fans, anyone!
Age Range: As I always say, it's Disney so it is for all ages!
Overall Score: 8.5!
Bonus thoughts:
This is a very fun movie. It has colorful costumes, animation and cinematography. It makes fun of "love at first sight" while at the same time making a tribute to Disney's past films. My mom doesn't really like Amy Adams in movies, but even she really enjoyed watching this.

And that wraps up my review! Have you seen this movie? What do you think of it?

Thanks for reading!

Movie Review: Despicable Me (2010)

Hello everybody!
Today is the second day, "The Mad", in Christina Wehner and Silver Screening's Movie Scientist Blogathon!
Today my focus is Dr. Nefario in Despicable Me (2010). Gru is technically a scientist, but he would be preferred to be called: evil genius, mastermind, or supervillain. And I guess "Vector" is a scientist, but, once again, he probably would like to go with a different name for it.
Yes, I know this movie is super weird, but I have two sisters so....

Despicable Me (2010):
Gru wants to be known as the best (worst) villain ever! To do that he comes up with a plan to steal.... the moon!
He first plans to steal a shrink-ray, then build a rocket and go to the moon, shrink it to a manageable size, and take it! His plans get temporarily foiled when "Vector" over hearing his plan steals the shrink-ray first. Gru adopts three girls, Margo, Edith, and Agnes, to sell cookies to "Vector" so he can get inside to steal it back. He gets in deeper then he could have imagined.
Genre: Action, Comedy.
Lenth: 95 minutes (approx.)
Costumes: 8, there is a scene where the annoying "Minions" have their pants pulled down. And there isn't really anything that exciting.
My sister wanted me to put a picture of what she calls the "Gru sweater"
Script: 9, a few bad words.
"Can I drink this?"
"Do you want to explode?"
Crew:
Directed by:
Pierre Coffin
Chris Renaud
Produced by:
Chris Meledandri
John Cohen
Janet Healy
Screenplay by:
Cinco Paul
Ken Daurio
Starring:
Steve Carell as Gru.
Jason Segel as "Vector". "Vector: a mathematical term for both direction and magnitude, that's me, I'm committing crimes with both direction and magnitude!"
Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario. "Why..why...why...why do you have to be so old!?"
Dr. Nefario's name comes from the word "nefarious" meaning "Infamous by way of being extremely wicked." Dr. Nefario isn't exactly wicked, but he is a little mad. He is all about doing evil things, but he is very friendly. He is the (main) assistant to Gru and he really looks the part of a scientist complete with lab coat and goggles.. Even though he can be frustrating when he can't hear what is being said, he really can "bust some moves."
Miranda Cosgrove as Margo.
Dana Gaier as Edith.
This is so me, except I just smile and wave at the camera.
Elsie Fisher as Agnes.
Will Arnett as Mr. Perkins.
Kristen Wiig as Miss Hattie.
Julie Andrews as Marlena.
Pierre Coffin as Kevin, Tim, Bob, Mark, Phil and Stuart.
Music: 7, it's just personal preference.
Music by:
Heitor Pereira
Pharrell Williams ("roof" does not rhyme with "truth"!)
Quotes: 8,
"Why are you wearing pajamas?"
"This isn't pajamas, it's a warm-up suit."
"What are you warming up for?"
"Really cool stuff that you dont' know about."
"Like sleeping?"
"These are not pajamas!!!!"
Storyline: 7, there are some suggestive things, mild violence, and some crude humor.
Good For: Orphans, People who feel alone.
Overall Score: 7!

Once again, thank you so much for reading!  Make sure you go check out all the fun HERE!

Movie Review: Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967)

Hello Everybody!
This movie that I am going to review today is a pretty fun movie! I hope you like my review.
My guarantee: On ALL of my reviews there are NO spoilers unless it says so.

Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967):
Millie Dillmount is a Modern. She has tossed her "cares and curls away",  gotten the most modern clothing, can type 40 words a minute, and she is going to marry her boss. As she would put it, she is "thoroughly" modern. As she makes friends with Miss Dorothy, an orphan who is moving into the apartment building Millie is living in, and Jimmy Smith, her world is turning out differently than she thought it would be. But something is happening that is wrong.
"In the Ritz elevator you only go up and down."
Genre: Musical, Comedy, Romance
Costumes: 8, they are very nice, only in one section are there some that people aren't wearing appropriate clothing, but you only see it for a few seconds. I'd have to say that this is my favorite dress:

Script: 7, there are some pretty bad words that Miss Dorothy says. Surprising I know!
"Moderns don't cry!"
Crew:
Directed by: George Roy Hill
Produced by: Ross Hunter
Written by: Richard Morris
Starring:
Julie Andrews as Millie Dillmount

James Fox as Jimmy

Mary Tyler Moore as Miss Dorothy

Carol Channing as Muzzy

John Gavin as Trevor Grayden
Beartice Lillie as Mrs. Meers

Jack Soo as Ching Ho (Credited as Oriental No. 1)
Pat Morita as Bun Foo (Credited as Oriental No. 2)

Philip Ahn as Tea

Music: 9, the music is very good, the only song that isn't really good is "Baby Face". My favorite is "The Tapioca."

Music by: Elmer Bernstein
Quotes: 9, "He's like fresh paint!" "Oh, he's just full of applesauce." (Such a Julie Andrews line!)
Notes: In the scene for "Jazz Baby", Muzzy puts the strap for a saxophone around her neck then after she is done playing it she just hands the saxophone to somebody without taking the strap off and it's fine! They must have filmed it in two parts. Also, in one part Mrs. Meers falls asleep on the floor, in the next scene she is on the bed, how did she get there?

Storyline: 5, The storyline is okay, but the movie has some: kidnapping, talk about body parts, paintings and statues of people in the nude, a lot of kissing, fighting, smoking (at first they sort of encourage it, but not at all later on), drunkenness, and suggestive stuff. The 'movie people' rate this movie G, but I would rate it more along the lines of between PG and PG-13.
"You can't be happy go lucky all the time, you have to buckle down and make something of yourself!"

Good For: Families, People who love Musicals, People who are "All alone in the world".
Overall Score: 7!

I'll leave you with something to think about. Have a good day evening! Oh, and tomorrow Hamlette's The Great Gatsby read-along starts! Go check it out!
