I am out of my hiatus and active again! I was actually "out" of it a few days ago, but I've been busy.
Anyway, while I was gone, because it was March, Abby and Molly Rebekah hosted a Little Women Blog Party! Well... it's not March any more (April 14th), but I am still going to answer the tag. Because, I love Little Women!
Note: It has been a while since I read the book or saw the movie, so my answers might not completely correct...
Also... SPOILER ALERT!!! If you have not read the book and seen the 1994 version, do not read this!!
The Little Woman Tag:
The rules:
Link back to the person who tagged you.
Answer the questions.
Feel free to add on any questions of your own for the next person, too.
Tag as many people as you'd like!
The questions:
1.) Is there anything from the book that you wish were in the movie?:
I actually wish that chapter 4, "Burdens" was in there. I mean it is sort of a sadish chapter (the poor bird), but I feel like there was a lot of growth for all the girls.
2.) If you could change one point of the plot, which would it be?:
Um, is do I need to answer?
I mean it is so sweet, but I cry my eyes out every time. You know what I'm talking about.
This isn't it, but you know what I mean.
3.) In Chapter 13, the March sisters and Laurie talk about “Castles in the Air”, basically their unrealistic but lovely hopes and dreams. What is your castle in the air?:
One of them used to be being in the Olympics. Not needing to win, but just getting that far would be amazing. (This is unrealistic because I have no idea what sport that would be.)
4.) What would you most like to see in a new adaptation of Little Women, whether in book or film? Any specific actors, setting, or time period changes?:
Well, the new one is coming out this year!:
5.) What is your favorite dress from the movie?:
Voilá:
It's blue!! My favorite color ever.
6.) Which March sister(s) do you relate to most?:
Such a hard question!
Meg:
&
Beth:
Okay, I feel like I'm the most like a mix between Meg and Beth, but I can't say how. It's just really hard to explain.
Jo:
Well, not really, but see answer to question #8. That is pretty much me.
7.) Do you have a favorite film adaptation of Little Women?:
1994. I started the Katherine Hepburn version once, but I couldn't finish it. Not because I didn't want to! It was on TV and it was dinner time.
8.) What is your favorite quote from Little Women? (Movie quotes count!):
Um, as I said, it has been awhile since either.
I found this one, and I do relate to it:
"Late at night my mind would come alive with voices and stories and friends as dear to me as any in the real world-
I gave myself up to it, longing for transformation."
~Jo March, Little Women
Book:
Honestly, I love chapter 13. And the ending...
Movie:
Okay, I have two:
1. When we learn of the thief of the missing glove: John Brooke. I love this part because my favorite romance is Meg's.
Laurie tells Jo, "I know something you don't." Laurie's face is the best! And I love how outraged Jo is.
2. When Amy is being sent away. Yes, it is sort of sad, but it shows how perfect Amy and Laurie are for each other.
Both are sad and scared for Beth. Amy tells Laurie her fears. Look at the hope in her eyes, asking him to tell her it will be okay. It just gives me happy (sad) feelings, okay?
3. When Beth receives the piano. I cry, it is beautiful, all is good.
10.) Aside from the March sisters, who is your favorite character from the story?:
Marmie.
John Brooke. (I just love him to itsy-bitsy pieces. And you can't have a picture of him without Meg...)
Professor Bhaer.
(I took me forever to narrow down which photos to use. So many possibilities!!!)
UPDATE 4-15-18: It took me a full 24-hours to realize I spelled John Brooke, John Brooker. Sorry about that! All is fixed now.
There you have it! Thanks to Abby and Molly!

You've made me want to read it again, or see a Little Women movie, right now! I know some cinematographers who are working on Part II....
ReplyDeleteSame here! Last night I cheated and just read three chapters in the middle of the book. It was so good! :D Trying to...
DeleteLoved your answers, MC! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elanor! :D

It is such a classic! <3
DeleteThey are so great! Even though the movie is not exactly like the book, they are both wonderful!
Thanks, Gray! :)
Great answers, MovieCritic! Thanks so much for joining in and doing the tag! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Molly! And thank you so much for hosting it! I did have fun, though I was a little late. :D
DeleteI love this version of "Little Women"! The only thing I'd change about it is that I wish it were longer- and, of course, what you said you'd change. That part always made me so sad.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm really hoping the BBC version coming out is good! As much as I loved this version, I'm up for seeing a new take on the story.
Loved reading your answers!
It is so good! I agree, longer would definitely be better! And, that part. I am used to it by now, but I still wish it didn't have to be there.
DeleteYes! I am so excited! The 1994 is excellent, but each version focuses on something different, so I can't wait to see what the BBC focuses on!
Thanks, Korin! :D
Like Korin, I dearly hope the BBC version will be good too. Excellent answers, MC!
