Movies I watched in 2020

Hello, again, my dear readers!

How did the first day of 2021 go for all of you? Mine was pretty relaxing while being filled with organization. Yesterday you saw all of the books that I read in 2020, and now it's time to see all of the movies that I watched!

For some reason I love the format of putting pictures of all of the titles, so this is a very lengthy post. But, it should be easy to just skim through pretty quickly.

Want to see what I watched in previous years? Check out my: 2019 list2018 list2017 list, and 2016 list.

Notes:
Ones with a ~ means I saw it in a theater.
Ones with an asterisk (*) means I saw it more than once.
If I have reviewed it I will put the link to my review.
To be on this list I must have seen more than half of it, the ending, and cannot have missed more than half an hour of it.

There are not any rewatches on here because I rewatch way too many movies to count.
One quick thing, I know that I said that Iʼm not going to put any rewatches on here, but I want to say that I started the year off with something that I had never done before. On January 4th I saw a movie in the theater that I had already seen. I had never gone more than once to see the same movie while it was still at the theater, but STAR WARS IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) was just that good.

Here we go!

New to me movies:

Little Women (2019)~* [Not twice in the theater, one time at home]
Back to the Future Part III (1990)
As You Like It (2006)
Knives Out (2019)~*
[My older sister and I saw it in the theater, which was actually the last time I was in a theater in January 2020, then showed it to our sister and mom in September]
The Lone Ranger (2013)
Zombies 2 (2020)
After the Thin Man (1963)
Sherlock Holmes: The Woman in Green (1945)

Port of New York (1949)
Unconquered (1947)

The Grapes of Wrath (1940)

I had a post about the next 8 movies HERE.
Justice League (2017)
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2015)
Clue (1985)* [To be honest, I had seen the full thing with one of the endings in 2019, but this year we watched the other two endings]
Three Guys Named Mike (1951)
Letters to Juliet (2010)
Snow White (1987)
Puss in Boots (1988)
True Grit (2010)
SOLO: A STAR WARS Story (2018)
The Areonauts (2019)
Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019)
[No judging, but it was actually good. I plan to talk about it some day]
Big Fish (2003)
[This was absolutely spectacular! I usually say that I don't like Tim Burton movies, but this was brilliant. So magical and whimsical!]
My Man Godfrey (1957)
Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017)
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
[I'd see the middle many times in past years, but I finally saw the beginning and end!]
The Secret Society of Second Born Royals (2020)
Support Your Local Gunfighter (1971)
[The first movie is one of my all time favorites, but this was a huge letdown.]
Godmothered (2020)
[In some ways it was cute, but to be honest I was really bored by this one]
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Captain Marvel (2019)
Funny Face (1957)

Total: 76

While 2019 was my big Marvel year, I still had some catching up to do. I have now seen all but one Marvel movie! (Well, technically two, but I always forget about The Incredible Hulk (2008)). Can you guess which one it is?

Mini-Series that I watched in 2020:

Neverland (2011) [Though it had problems, this was excellent and I wish that it had become a full show!]
Sense and Sensibility (2008)

Series I watched in 2020:

The Wild, Wild West, 70 episodes. For specifics: Season 1, 20 episodes; season 2, 15 episodes; season 3, 16 episodes; season 4, 19 episodes.
Poldark, Seasons 1-5. REWATCH: season 5, episodes 6-8.
Merlin, Seasons 1 and 2. Season 3: episodes 1-4.

The ChosenSeason 1.
Zoeyʼs Extraordinary Playlist, Season 1 [The premise of this show is awesome, but there are some things that I strongly disagree with. On the flip side, there are really beautiful moments, too. Overall, Iʼm conflicted but canʼt recommend it to anyone]
A Series of Unfortunate Events, Season 2, episodes 7-10; season 3, episodes 1-3.
Eureka, Season 1, episodes 1-6.
His Dark Matierals, Season 2, episodes 1-6. [Season 2 is getting a little weird, but I'm loving seeing Will and Lyra work together. And Lin-Manuel Miranda is the best, as usual.]

Leverage, Season 1, episodes 1-2.
The Mandalorian, Season 1, episodes 1-2.

My 10 New-To-Me Favorite Movies:

3. Big Fish (2003)
6. Captain Marvel (2019)
7. Little Women (2019)
8. Charade (1963)
10. Back to the Future Part III (1990)

Usually I have at least one movie that I absolutely hate, but not this year (well, except maybe Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. (2017). I wasn't a fan. But, Groot was the cutest thing ever, so that's something.)! I love my top ten to much! They are BEAUTIFUL and FANTASTIC and MARVELOUS! I recommend them to all of you!

There you have it! Please tell me if you have seen any of these, and tell me which ones! Any recommendations? What do you think of my top ten? What were your favorite movies that you saw in 2020? What are you looking forward to in 2021? Thanks for reading!

  1. Wow, I have watched none of these except Frozen II and parts of The Mandalorian. XD But I am looking forward to watching Iron Man 2 and 3! (I loved the original. So. Much.)

    1. Hey, that's a start! XD What did you think of Frozen II (I feel that I already know that and my memory is gone...)? Ah, I hope that you like them! I thought that the second one was decent, but I really, really liked the third! (Replying to this comment is me taking a break from writing reviews for both of them, actually!)

    2. I suppose it is. XD I really liked Frozen II when I watched it, but after having rewatched Frozen this month...Frozen II is definitely inferior. I still really, really love the music, though.
I really enjoyed the second one, and after watching the trailer for the third, I am out-of-my-mind excited about watching it! (Maybe starting tonight...we'll see.)

    3. The music is lovely! "Show Yourself" is one of the most beautiful songs that I've heard and that moment was amazing. I agree, the rest...isn't as good. It has too many things randomly thrown together and lacks something that the first one had in spades.
Ack! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! The rest of the MCU has great films, but that's one of the best to wrap-up the trilogy!

  2. Wow, you watched a lot of good movies! I love all of the Marvel movies (even Guardians 2, although most people I know don't like it). Knives Out is so good, too. Back to the Future 3 is really good, too.
I really have to see Little Women (2019), since you like it so much.
And, ooh, what is Big Fish about? The movie poster is so cool-looking, and I love Tim Burton movies (though I can see why you don't. They're really weird, so I guess it depends on the person).
I'm so glad that you liked all the movies you saw! I hope you get to see a lot of great movies in 2021, too.

    1. Yes, I had a great year! Marvel is epic (thinking about it, I liked Guardians 2 better than Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, so that was my least favorite). My older sister has only seen the first Back to the Future movie so I need to convince her to watch the whole trilogy because it is awesome.
I know many people who don't like that version of Little Women, but I love it!
Ah, I'm glad you asked! Big Fish is about this guy who has always heard his father tell stories and is a little annoyed by them, but he wants to learn the truth of what his father's life was actually like. So, it follows the fantastic life his father, Edward Bloom. It is so amazingly good! I love it and recommend it! I'll get around to writing a review one day. (Yeah! Even though I don't like all of them, it's cool to see other people's tastes. Like my older sister).
      Thanks! Same to you!

  3. Knives Out is one of my new favorite movies, too! SO good.

I also really loved The Aeronauts. Well, "loved" might be strong, but the hot air balloons/early aviation vibes made me really happy, and I'd like to watch it again.

Dang, girl, you are so well-versed in cinema. I've seen precious few of these. :) Happy to hear your movie year was such a pleasing one!

    1. I love how it makes you think about so many things while being a complicated mystery. That's a sign of a good film!

Totally agree with you there! The aesthetic was stunning! Just lately it's been pointed out to me that they used widescreen for the flashbacks and fullscreen for present time, which is a stroke of genius.

Haha, thanks! :) Megan, I would recommend Seventh Heaven especially to you because I think that you'd totally dig it!

  7. You watched quite a few of my favorites!! I love Leap Year, 2008 S&S, Pot O' Gold, Letters to Juliet, Nancy Drew Reporter, This Beautiful Fantastic! I just loved Ned/Ted (couldn't figure out which one they said in movie) in Nancy Drew - one of my favorite scenes in that is the one where he's calling different places, impersonating Soxie and then cringing because of this sore jaw! :) :)

    1. I wondered if you had seen Letters to Juliet! So cute! Nancy Drew, Reporter was a barrel of fun! It took me a while to figure out that they were saying "Ted", too. He was hilarious! That's a good part. :) My sisters and I loved his siblings, they were a hoot!
