Answers to the Guess Movie from the Drawing Game INKtober 2025 edition! // comments, explanations, and running the numbers

I don't have the skills to make my drawings come to life...yet.

Hi, friends!

As promised, here are the answers to my Guess the Movie from the Drawing Game! If you want to quickly go see the original drawings for yourself before you see the comparisons, click HERE.

Thank you so much to everyone who guessed! Scores will be at the bottom, but for now drawings guessed correctly by everyone have an asterisk next to them.

Day 1:
Prompt: Mustache. Film: Murder on the Orient Express (2017)

Blue got a half point for this for knowing that it was Hercule Poirot! Who else would have such an excellent mustache?

Day 2*:

Prompt: Weave. Film: Tangled (2010)

Day 3:

Prompt: Crown. TV Show: Merlin (2008-12)

This one reminds me a bit of Napoleon Dynamite, because the hair took me an embarrassingly long time. So I've been going around saying:

Day 4:

Prompt: Murky. Film: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

After this I realized I could just write the prompt on the page a different way. I talked about this scene HERE.

Day 5:

Prompt: Deer. Film: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)

This is from Doric's scouting mission where she had to escape quickly. And it's set up earlier HERE, continued HERE, then it's paid off HERE.

Holga: "So she did become a deer!"

Edgin: "Only at the very end!"

I just find it a great running gag so that's what I decided to draw.

Day 6:

Prompt: Pierce. Film: The Parent Trap (1998)

This is a very strange way to fill this prompt, but I didn't want to draw anyone dying.

Day 7*:

Prompt: Starfish. Film: Finding Nemo (2003)

Day 8:

Prompt: Reckless. Film: The Great Waldo Pepper (1975)

Well done to Phyl for figuring this one out with my clue!

What happened here is for some reason I decided to start with the wheels, and I drew it in the middle of the page. Then I realized that I was not going to have enough room for Waldo actually doing the reckless act, so everything got a little smushed.

Day 9:

Prompt: Heavy. Film: Les Miserables (2012)

I couldn't get the facial expression quite right, but then I also realized I wasn't using my magic pen, so I'll blame it on that.

This was the first in a pattern I got stuck in, dubbed "guys holding stuff."

Day 10*:
Prompt: Sweep. Film: Mary Poppins (1964)

Guys holding stuff #2.

Day 11*:

Prompt: Sting. Films: The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003)

Guys holding stuff #3.

Does it look like Frodo? No. But I still think he looks cute, haha! Even my sister who hasn't seen the series knew it was him, so I'm calling that a win.

Day 12*:

Prompt: Shredded. Film: Back to the Future (1985)

Guys holding stuff #4. But people did a really good job of guessing "guys holding stuff" so maybe I should continue the theme!

This one is my favorite! <3 I just had so much fun drawing Marty's jacket. And face.

Day 13:

Prompt: Drink. Film: Barbie (2023)

I finally was able to break out of the "guys holding stuff" and make it "dolls holding stuff!" ...So does that make this Guys and Dolls...?

Day 14:

Prompt: Trunk. TV Show: A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017-19)

This is immediately what I thought of, which tells you how much of a grasp Lemony Snicket has on my life. I apologize heartily to Hugo for giving him such a long arm. And to Collette for whatever happened when I was drawing her face. And to Kevin, for not really giving him a face...

Day 15:

Prompt: Ragged. Film: Cinderella (2015)

This one had a few things going on. First, I was annoyed that it was so close to the "shredded" prompt because it took me FOREVER to think of that one. So I decided to go with my original idea for that one, and then when I was rewatching the scene I realized the word "ragged" actually is used to describe the character. However, in the reference picture I used the character looked so happy, it made everything ironic. Then I remembered the line "No one's ever painted my portrait" and decided it was about time. XD

It reminds me of another scene in the movie itself:

Honestly I think Anastasia's drawing skills are better than mine.

Day 16*:
Prompt: Blunder. Films: Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-17)

Has there ever been a bad picture of Captain Jack Sparrow?

This is probably one of my strangest answers to a prompt, but I believe that type of gun is called a blunderbuss?

Day 17:

Prompt: Ornate. Film: The Princess Bride (1987)

By the time I actually got to the "ornate" part, I was a little tired of drawing, hence the squiggly lines.

Day 18:

Prompt: Deal. TV Show: Doom at Your Service (2021)

What's better than making a deal with the devil? Making a deal with Doom himself.

I fully admit that I am obsessed with K-Dramas. This one is fourth in my ranking so far.

Day 19:

Prompt: Arctic. Film: The Golden Compass (2008)

Should we talk about the nose? I don't know what happened, but it's like Flynn Rider.

Day 20:

Prompt: Rivals. Film: Descendants 2 (2017).

Even though I drew Uma twice, I just can't get the angle of her head right. One would think I'd never studied angles even though that's far from the truth...

Day 21:

Prompt: Blast. Film: Nancy Drew (2007)

Any time I just got to stab my pen against the paper a lot was a good day. That's the secret behind my technique.

Day 22*:

Prompt: Button. Film: Penelope (2006)

I adore this coat and scarf, so of course I was going to have to draw it eventually.

Day 23*:

Prompt: Firefly. Film: The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Usually these drawings took me around 40 minutes, but this one was about 5 because I wanted to be able to say I drew it quickly. So enjoy this version of Ray with a slightly wonky smile!

Day 24:

Prompt: Rowdy. Film: It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

Proportions? What are proportions? I just really wanted to draw the guy doing the little cannonball. And it was fun to do something different than what I usually did!

Day 25:

Prompt: Inferno. TV Show: Geek Girl (2024-present)

She does not have the right kind of intensity that I was going for, but I had a ton of fun doing Harriet's hair.

Day 26:

Prompt: Puzzling. Film: Call Northside 777 (1948)

It was pointed out to me that my drawing looks more like Lauren Bacall than Helen Walker and now I can't unsee it. And I'm not surprised that I ended up drawing Jimmy Stewart eventually, though I don't think I'd ever seen anyone doing a puzzle in a film before?

Day 27:

Prompt: Onion. Film: Glass Onion (2022).

Who's excited for Wake Up Dead Men??

Day 28:

Prompt: Skeletal. Film: The Book of Life (2014)

The skeleton hands were WAY too much fun to draw, even if they are wildly different sizes.

Day 29:

Prompt: Lesson. Film: The Count of Monte Cristo (2002).

If I keep the practice up, maybe I'll be able to draw as quickly as the priest can move his hands under water drops.

Day 30:

Prompt: Vacant. Film: Charade (1963).

In which I learned how shaky my hands are when I try to draw straight lines.

Day 31:

Prompt: Award. TV Show: Wednesday (2022-present)

I see this as being only the start of me drawing many pictures of Wednesday. Maybe one for every episode...

Scores:

Fiona Cate: 23 (as my sister, she's VERY familiar with what I watch!)

Blue: 12.5

Phyl: 11

Thank you so much for your brilliant guesses! You all did AMAZINGLY.

Stats:

Hands drawn in detail: 31. Ironic, because I'm terrible at hands yet kept finding images to fill the prompts that featured hands.

Guys holding stuff: 11

Mystery-themed: 5

Animated inspiration: 4

Guitars: 2. This feels like that John Mulaney quote of "if I had a nickel..."

Including food or drink: 2

Fire: 2

How do you think I did? Which is your favorite? Which picture do you think is the most accurate to the reference photo? Which one is most stylized?

Thanks for viewing my art! I hope this has inspired you all to try something new, like this was for me! Have a great start to December!

One Week Left for the "Guess the Movie From the Drawing" Game!

Maybe I'll become a caricature artist...

Hey, friends!

This is just a note that a week from today (on Wednesday, December 3rd) I'll be revealing the answers to my "Guess the Movie From the Drawing Game"! I've been meaning to post the answers sooner, but I've only had a couple of people guess so would love a few more guesses!

It's completely for fun so there are no bad guesses! Sometimes the guesses show how uncannily my drawings look like something else, and it's fun for me to see my drawings through the eyes of my readers.

My ideal drawing location.

If you fancy taking a guess, check it out HERE.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Guess the Movie from the Drawing Game! // INKtober 2025 Recap

Hi, friends! Happy Halloween!

The last time I had a game on this blog it was "Guess the Actor from the Drawing" with my sister back in 2020. I've been wanting to get into drawing ever since, but always claimed I didn't have the time. On October 1st I was looking at the INKtober prompts and for day one thought, "I know exactly what I'd do if I were to draw that!" Then I realized there was nothing holding me back, and I went ahead and drew it.

Because that first day featured one of my favorite fictional characters I decided I'd give myself the additional challenge of making each drawings be inspired by a movie or TV show! Which is where this turns into a game. I would love for you guys to guess what these are! Some of these are SUPER obscure; there's no one who could guess all of these, not even my family members, but I thought it would be a fun game for you guys to see what movies and TV shows we have in common and to see what I've been up to.

And I also want to see how recognizable all of my drawings are, haha! I hadn't done a lot of drawing before this and I think I actually got worse as the month went along but I never stopped having fun. I used reference photos for all of these which has it's pros and cons, but you'll get to see the actual photos when I post the answers!

How it works:

  • Each of these drawings is from a scene in a movie or TV show. Comment on this post (comments will be put on moderation so everyone gets a fair chance!) if you think you know the inspiration for any of these drawings. You don't need to guess the exact episode of the TV show, just the name of the show will count!
  • As some of these are impossibly hard I'll give some hints, but you may be able to guess a lot from what the prompt was, so all of those are included, too.
  • Have fun!

Day 1: Prompt: Mustache

Day 2: Prompt: Weave

Day 3: Prompt: Crown

Note: I had just rewatched this episode, so while it's a little out of the way it's where my mind went immediately.

Day 4: Prompt: Murky

Hint: I have talked about this scene before on this blog. Because I'm obsessed and I acknowledge that.

Day 5: Prompt: Deer

Hint: I know the obvious one to do would be Bambi. But: (a. I was trying to avoid animated films because I would compare it too much to the animated style. (b. I haven't actually seen that. So I went with something where a deer only shows up for a few seconds, but there's still a line of dialogue devoted to it.

"So she did become a deer!"

"Not relevant."

Day 6: Prompt: Pierce

Day 7: Prompt: Starfish

Day 8: Prompt: Reckless

Hint: I didn't even know this movie existed until a couple of months ago but maybe it will make a comeback as people watch things to commemorate a certain actor.

Day 9: Prompt: Heavy

Day 10: Prompt: Sweep

Day 11: Prompt: Sting

Day 12: Prompt: Shredded

Day 13: Prompt: Drink

Day 14: Prompt: Trunk

Hint: This TV show is Very Fit (for) Drawing.

Day 15: Prompt: Ragged

Hint: I'm using the prompt ironically, but it is part of the dialogue...

Day 16: Prompt: Blunder

Day 17: Prompt: Ornate

Day 18: Prompt: Deal

Note: No one who doesn't watch international TV dramas is going to guess this. Take this as your sign to watch international TV dramas because I am ENGROSSED.

Day 19: Prompt: Arctic

Hint: I had forgotten completely that this movie existed even though I used to watch it all the time. Takes me back to the late 2000s.

Day 20: Prompt: Rivals

Note: The problem with this one is that I drew the figure on the right first and got a little cocky which lead to me completely messing up on the figure on the left. This was the only drawing of the month that I felt so dissatisfied with it that later in the day I tried to redo it. And I guess the nearest piece of paper was a receipt, so I just put it on top of the other piece of paper. So here's another version, even though the proportions are off.

Day 21: Prompt: Blast

Hint: I don't know what's a good clue to give you guys as Sarah Seele is the only person outside of my family that I know has also watched this. But maybe you guys will prove me wrong!

Day 22: Prompt: Button

Day 23: Prompt: Firefly

Day 24: Prompt: Rowdy

Day 25: Prompt: Inferno

Hint: I keep saying I'm going to write a post about this TV show and my love for it, so maybe this should be my hint to finish that post before the second season comes out.

Day 26: Prompt: Puzzling

Hint: If you need help, maybe you should call a friend? I guess "phone a friend" is the proper direction.

Day 27: Prompt: Onion

Day 28: Prompt: Skeletal

Day 29: Prompt: Lesson

Hint: This guy is good at teaching things. Like how to fight and also read and write.

Day 30: Prompt: Vacant

Hint: The pretense for me drawing it is that I'd just rewatched it, so no farce is intended.

Day 31: Prompt: Award

Hint: I chose a strange scene from this show, but just know that I'd been thinking about it all month long, especially as I got around to watching the second season. And dressed up as one of the characters for Halloween. And I was drawing on Halloween (aka today), so sure, I'll do what's popular right now, regardless of the day of the week.

Let the guessing begin! I hope you guys have as much fun with this as I did drawing these all! Answers will be posted in a few weeks!
