Movie/Series Review: Pride and Prejudice 1995 - Episode One

Hello!

Today is the second day of Hamlette's I Love Austen Week! I will be reviewing the first episode of BCC's adaption of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice! I had forgotten how much I love this!

Pride and Prejudice (1995): Episode One

We have a wonderful opening here. Two men, Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy, coming riding into view and they are discussing if they should purchase Netherfield. In this episode the Bennets, Mr. Bennet, Mrs. Bennet, Jane Bennet, Elizabeth Bennet, Mary Bennet, Kitty Bennet, and Lydia Bennet, ("They are all silly girls, well, Lizzy has a bit more wit.")

meet Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy, Mrs. Bennet's hopes are that they will choose one of her daughters for marriage.
Genre: Romance.
Costumes: 9, Oh there are so many and they are so pretty, I will give them a 9 because a few are a little low but they are still fine.
My Favorites: How can I choose!?

Script: 9, there are only two bad words.
"And do you not want to know who has taken it?"
"You want to tell me and I have no objection to hearing it."
Crew:
Directed by: Simon Langton
Screenplay by: Andrew Davies
Based on: Pride and Prejudice - by Jane Austen, Chapters 1-12.
Starring:
Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy
Crispin Bonham-Carter as Mr. Bingley

Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet
Benjamin Whitrow as Mr. Bennet
Polly Maberly as Kitty Bennet
Julia Sawalha as Lydia Bennet
Alison Steadman as Mrs. Bennet
Lucy Briers as Mary Bennet
Susannsh Harker as Jane Bennet
The sisters remind me a lot of me and my sisters. My older sister and I are Lizzy and Jane, and my younger sister and I are Mr. Bingley's sisters, I mean we are very nice but we give each other the same looks they do:

Music: 10, it is so lovely! I love it! The beginning is gorgeous!
Music by: Carl Davis
Quotes: 9, "Oh! You take delight in vexing me!"
Storyline: 7, So far it is coming along splendidly! There are two scenes with drunken people.

Overall Score: 9

Thank you so much for reading! Make sure to check out Hamlette's blog for all the fun! Come back tomorrow for my review of episode two!!
