Upcoming Movies: Complaints

Hello!
I have a page called Upcoming, which is upcoming movies that I can't wait to see. I really enjoy watching movies, so when there is a movie I think I like coming out, I get really excited.

With all that said, I am a Movie Critic, so I thought I would tell you all the complaints that I have about them. I mean, after all if we complain before they actually come out, maybe the film makers will change them, right?

A little while ago, Disney released a list of all the movies they are going to be making in the next few years. I have no complaint with a few of them, but others...

The Incredibles 2 (2018) & Mary Poppins Returns (2018):

Wow. I mean what is the deal with these? They are sequels, but the original came out way too long ago for a sequel to be made. The first Incredibles movie came out in Nov. 2004. Mary Poppins came out in 1964.
What!!?? That is way too long. I mean, I'm sorry but it is.
And she doesn't even look like Julie Andrews.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 (2018) & Frozen 2 (2019):

The first ones were so great let's make another, right?

Oh, come on. I didn't particularly like the first ones, they were okay, but still. And now they are making sequels. I will grant Disney that they are doing a pretty good job at getting them out soon, vs. above movies. But, the sequels are never as good. Name a movie where the sequel is better. (Please do, I want to see it.)

The Lion King (2019):

All of the Disney remake live-action films have been so good! (At least the ones I've seen) But, The Lion King is possibly one of the greatest animated films ever. It was so good it was made into a Broadway play.

As good as the previous live-action remakes have been, they have been using a lot of CGI. "But, CGI is so useful!" you say. Yes, it can be. I will say that the 2015 Cinderella was quite impressive:
And the 2017 Beauty and the Beast was ssssssoooooo good, but it had too much CGI. The best movie Beauty and the Beast that the Beast was the really a beast that I've seen is the 1946 version.

So, The Lion King went on Broadway, and it was really famous, but not for it's music. For it's...

COSTUMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best thing about putting on a play is making the costumes. Is Disney seriously going to just make all that worth nothing, by making this whole movie CGI?
Look at these!!!!!
Source
Is it just me, but aren't CGI animals a little dark and scary? The thing with animated movies, is that it can be a really moving story, but at the same time the colors are fantastic. I have a feeling it will just make the movie too scary.

Mulan (2019):

I am so exicted, because it is a live-action take, but it isn't a musical!!! Disney, how can you do this to me!!!!!!?????

Toy Story 4 (2019) & Pirates of the Caribbean 6 (2021):

Both these movies have had so many sequels. I am tired of them. Don't get me wrong, The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are great, but I burned out after #4. My sister says they only keep making these because Johnny Depp is out of money. Oh well, maybe that's true, maybe not.

The last Toy Story movie, though I did not like it, it did end on a good note. Now they are going to wreck that ending? *groans*

Okay, you're tired of me. I'll let you get on with your day. Do you agree with me on any of these movies?

Thanks for reading!!

    1. They must be!!!!! I didn't see #5, but that wasn't much of a hit. They are officially out of their minds.

  2. I didnt know they were making a Mary Poppins 2! Don't do it Disney!! *scowls*

Do we really need another Pirates of the Carribean?? I'm with you, after the 4th I was just bored.

    1. Yes! It's supposed to be when Jane and Michael are grown up. No!!!!! It won't be good!

I don't think so. I haven't even seen #5, so I definitely don't want to see 6. How much more story can they get out of it?

  3. Yeah, will they ever be done with Pirates? The first one is the best. The franchise just went downhill from there. And same thing with Toy Story.
I also agree with what you said about the sequels for...pretty much all the others. Especially Frozen.

And I'm so disappointed that Mulan is not going to be a musical. ;( But I hope it will be good anyway. Like Cinderella. The new Aladdin had better be a musical though!!

    1. The first one was definitely the best. I didn't like the third one one really. #4 I saw in theater, and wasn't that bad. But I lost intrest after that. Toy Story keeps going forever! Why? Sequels... they are never as good! And what are they going to do for Frozen?

:( True. The songs are so good! Yes, Cinderella was good though it didn't have to music, so hopefully Mulan will be good. Aladdin definitely needs the music!!

  6. I happen to share your sentiments, MC!! Sometimes, the sequels just aren't needed.

I know that they're making ANOTHER Jurassic Park movie too...*groans*

    1. Yay! We should stick together. ;) It is rare when the sequel is good, or even needed! Just stick with the original.

What!!?? That's crazy! What is that now, their 5th? The last one they say was super scary.

      Thanks for your comment, Catherine!

  7. Whaaaaat!? How can they make another Mary Poppins when the other is sooooooo long ago!? Incredibles 2 can't go through with the gap of time in between either, but Mary Poppins was so long ago...(and she doesn't look like Julie Andrews at all, no)
You're right, sequels are never better than the first. Sequels even mess up the feeling of the first movie sometimes! (Oh wait, Ice Age became better, right? At least everyone in this house have 3 and 4 as favourites, and not 2 and 1. But then 5! Just...ugh, so bad! So... not like the four previous!)
I beg your pardon, Disney? Sorry, but that Lion King really looks weird. Cinderella was really good(wow, only live action remake I ever saw), I agree, but I have to say that Lion King looks very awkward.
NOT a musical?! But Mulan has such good songs... :( I'm still looking forward to it though, but I wish it was a musical.
Yeah, Toy Story goes on and on and on.(I wonder if they are gonna make a number FIVE after 4. Hope not, 'cause that's really too long) We never watched Pirates of the Caribbean, because it is said to be scary and it's really...you know, with ghosts, so...and we have little ones around who watch along.
Talking about long, my comment is starting to be a very long one again :)
It feels good to sometimes let your anger about upcoming movies out, doesn't it? ;D And you can have so many debates about it XD
Anyhow...I was going to stop talking, so...bye!

    1. It was waaaaay too long ago! What is the point? Plus, Mrs. Travers, the author said she never wanted one of her books to be made into a movie. She's not alive anymore, but still! The Incredibles came out 14 years ago! That is crazy.
Oh! I forgot about Ice Age! I agree, those sequels are pretty good. I haven't seen 3, but my sister and I really liked 4. That is the only time I can think of where the sequels were good. But I haven't seen 5.
It does look weird! Cinderella was amazing (you should see BatB!), but The Lion King is going to be so strange.
Crazy, right!? Mulan is based on a real story, so maybe they want it to be more like that, but the first time they made it, the music was sssooooo good! Maybe it will be like Cinderella and have them in the credits.
That would be too long. I don't think I am even going to watch this Toy Story, because I can't understand why they keep doing this! It will never be as good as the first one. Yes, Pirates of the Caribbean is very scary, but the soundtrack is really awesome. And the costumes are pretty good, as well as the actors. The first one is the best, and they went downhill from there.
It does feel good to rant about upcoming movies! Yes! It is good to see we agree!
Thank you so much for your comment, Ruth!! :D

  8. Yup. Sequels are hardly ever (if ever) as good as the original. Sometimes it's better to stop while you're ahead, and not ruin a good thing by too much repetition. (Disney obviously doesn't see it that way though...haha!)

All the CGI! Exactly! What's the point of doing a "live-action" movie when all of it's going to end up being CGI? It just seems like another type of cartoon in my opinion. Sure, maybe it's more realistic looking, but it's still not "real".

Maybe the real problem here is that Disney isn't good at coming up with original stories anymore. Hence all the returning to old themes. ;)

    1. The funny thing is that I imagine Disney knows that even if they don't have any original ideas anymore...we will all still go see these sequels and remakes whether we think we will like them or not. It's obvious after DMTNT that they can keep making Pirates movies (no matter how redundant they get) and fans of the originals will go and see them anyway just out of pure curiosity. Same applies to Mary Poppins since we all love the original. We'll watch the new one just to criticize it if nothing else! Am I right?

      Delete
    2. Haha. That's very true! Disney knows what people will go to see. (And yes to what you said about Mary Poppins. Even if it's just to criticize, I'll probably want to see it. :) 'Cause I admit, I like to criticize movies. ;))

    3. True, true, true, true! The sequel can ruin the original. Disney needs to learn that, but they just don't seem to be able too!

It is basically and animated movie, because there are only voice actors, and all that CGI!! I don't want to watch a whole movie full of it! In other movies, the occasional bit is exciting, because it not there through the whole thing!

You guys are sooooooo right! They have run out of new ideas (Wow, I wouldn't think it was possible.) so they keep redoing the old ones, because they know we will go watch it, even if just for curiosity, and to criticize them! If they need someone to come up with ideas for movies, they can hire me. :D

  9. I have to say I that I LOVED the most recent Pirates movie, and so another one excites me. I'm equal parts pumped and nervous for Incredibles 2, and... *cringe* Not much hope for another Mary Poppins...

    Great post, Clare!!

    1. I haven't seen it. I kind of want to because it has Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, but I am tired of Johnny Depp, but you can't have a Pirates movie without him. ;) Oh, yes! I am excited for Incredibles 2, I just am annoyed that they took so long to make it!! Yes... I'm not sure what to do about that.

      Thank you, Lila!! :D

  10. I don't feel like animated movies in particular have an expiration date on when it's too late to make a sequel, just because... it's not like the actors are gonna age out of the roles. So I'm cool with Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 from that standpoint.

Since Mary Poppins is based on an entire series of books, and since it bears little similarity to those books, I'm not going to get all worried about a sequel being untrue to the original movie because... it's going to be its own thing, just like the original movie was, and that's not bad. Just different. Different does not equal bad. Or good. (I mean, Rogue One was very different from other Star Wars movies, and it was amazing. The Last Jedi was very different from other Star Wars movies, and it was a big mess. So... "different" to me doesn't signal goodness or badness, if that makes sense.)

I don't actually like The Lion King much, and wasn't crazy about Mulan, so I'm not caring much one way or the other about the new versions? I'm VERY excited about the 2019 live-action version of Aladdin, though, cuz I love the animated movie, and cuz Guy Ritchie is directing this one, plus Will Smith is playing the Genie. Allll the yes!

BTW, I nominated you for The Liebster Award :-) Play if you want to!

    1. True, since you don't see them it doesn't matter how old the voice actors get. I guess I'm just impatient because I want to see both the original and the sequel close together. :-)

It will be interesting to see what they do with the story! Also, true. I haven't seen Rogue One, but so many people love it, even though it was so different. I just got a set of tapes of Mary Poppins, so I can't wait to listen to that! Plus, maybe this would have been closer to Mrs. Travers liking. The colors look very bright, and it looks like a very inviting movie to watch. That is so right, different does not mean bad. :-)

I never really loved The Lion King until I learned the story behind it. I probably won't watch it if it does turn out to be all CGI. YES! YES! YES!!!! *jumps up and down* I CAN'T wait for Aladdin!!! I was so excited when they annouced that Will Smith was going to be the genie!! They couldn't have picked better. :-D

Thank you! I have a lot of tags I need to do, but I will definitely check it out!

    3. Yes, I am guilty of that crime. Everyone I talk to loves it, but I'm still not convinced if I want to see it. Maybe one day.

  11. I am so excited for some of these, especially Mulan! But I agree- sequels can be so disappointing. I'm trying to think of a sequel that I actually liked, and I think there's one but I can't think of it... oh well. And yeah, I agree about CGI. It's good, to a point, but it's used so much nowadays! After a while, I just want to see real animals, real mountains, real stunts...
And by the way, I'm a newcomer here, and I think your blog is really cool! I love movie and book talk.

    1. Mulan will be a fun watch! Sequels just don't have the same feeling as the originals. I can think of one, where the sequel was really good, but not as great as the first. Thanks for agreeing! CGI is nice... to a degree. Real animals, mountains, and stunts are just so much more amazing than the CGI ones.

Thanks for following my blog, Korin!! I can't wait to talk about more books and movies with you!

    2. Agreed! Movies can seem less realistic when there's so much CGI. I mean, sometimes, as realistic as it can look, you can just tell it's there.
Looking forward to discussing books and movies with you as well!

    3. And usually they are so dark, too! CGI can be magical, but it also can be creepy. Agreed, you can always tell it is there.
Yes! That will be so much fun! :D Books are movies are always better when you can talk about them with people!
