Movie/Series Review: Pride and Prejudice 1995 - Episode Two

Hello Everyone!

Today is the third day in Hamlette's I ❤ Austen Week! I will be reviewing the second episode of BBC's 1995 Pride and Prejudice. You can find my review of Episode One, HERE.

Pride and Prejudice (1995): Episode Two

Here we are introduced to two more characters, Mr. Collins the heir to Longbourn,

 and Mr. Wickam.
"Because I have not had a dance these three months together."
There are several histories exposed, prejudices revealed and promises broken.
Genre: Romance.
Costumes: 9, Once again the costumes are marvelous! Especially the ball scene. There is a scene where Lydia is asking Lizzy if she should where this one dress, and she is only in her 'undergown'. Lydia thought it was hilarious.
My Favorite:
The one in my header.
Script: 9, very good, I could only hear one bad word. (Cut it out Lydia!) "I beg your pardon, one knows exactly what to think."
Crew:
Directed by: Simon Langton
Screenplay by: Andrew Davies
Based on: Pride and Prejudice - by Jane Austen, Chapters 13-20.
Starring:
Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy
Crispin Bonham-Carter as Mr. Bingley
I have to put a picture of him because, well, look!
Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet
Benjamin Whitrow as Mr. Bennet
Polly Maberly as Kitty Bennet
Julia Sawalha as Lydia Bennet
Alison Steadman as Mrs. Bennet
Lucy Briers as Mary Bennet
Susannsh Harker as Jane Bennet
Adrian Lukis as Mr. Wickam
David Bamber as Mr. Collins
Music: 10, whenever I hear these scores any where I imagine the scenes in this movie! I love the one that *cough* people *cough* dance to at the ball.
Music by: Carl Davis
Quotes: 10, "Ah! You look very well Lizzy! You will never be as pretty as your sister Jane, but I will say you look pretty well indeed."

Storyline: 9, yes coming along delightfully! In this episode there are several moments where you have to cringe because of the Bennet family.
Overall Score: 9.

Go check out Hamlette's blog for all the fun! And come back tomorrow for Episode Three!

  1. Okay, but the cheesy Mr. Collins grin -- it never fails to make me giggle. Nice job on another ep review!

    1. Haha, that is so true! It is so very Mr. Collins, one would know exactly what you were referring to even without the picture above. xD
